Wheel alignment is important. Many people have questions about it, so we’ve compiled a quick FAQ. Hopefully it will help answer your questions.
Why is getting a wheel alignment important?
What wheel alignment comes down to is making sure that the wheels are pointed in the right direction. There are many different aspects to assuring this. If they’re not, control over your vehicle can greatly diminish and many parts in your tires can be destroyed.
How does my alignment go bad?
Your alignment is often measured by a hundredth of an inch. Small alignment problems can cause a lot of damage over time. Some things that cause your alignment to go bad include:
- Pot holes
- Running into a curb
- Hitting parking stalls
- Wear and tear over time
How often should I have my alignment inspected?
A general rule of thumb is to have the alignment inspected every other oil change. Many shops offer a Lifetime Alignment where they automatically check for you every 6,000 miles.
Are alignments different than they used to be?
While the process is basically the same, alignments have become much more precise in recent times. There are also many more makes and models, each with their own alignment specifications.
